Not all colleges and universities are listed, but there are many who have provided IB credit policies as well as contact information for their admissions offices.

Financial Aid Night – Attention All Seniors!

On Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 7 p.m., a representative from the GEORGIA STUDENT FINANCE COMMISSION will be at CHS to provide information on the following:

· The completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Both the students and parents MUST complete the on-line form in order to be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, loans, grants, and college-work study programs. This form will be available on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1, 2010.

· HOPE Scholarship

· Federal and state loans and grants for college

· Steps in the financial aid application process

The GSFC representative will be in the CHS auditorium. Be sure to check with the college(s) to which you are applying. They may have a deadline by which you must submit the FAFSA.

Visit Your Child's Classroom!


Statistics have shown that parent involvement in education improves student performance. Therefore, one of Dr. Rivera’s goals is to have CHS build stronger connections with families. All parents/guardians are welcome to regularly visit the school and visit their child’s classroom.

Before visiting your child’s classroom, please stop by the front office to sign in and receive a visitor’s badge. It will also be helpful to have a bell schedule prior to arriving at the school. Bell schedules can be picked up at the front office.

IB Potluck Dinner



The first IB Potluck Dinner was a great success and a lot of fun! IB parents, students, staff, and teachers had a wonderful opportunity to meet and mingle while enjoying foods from around the world.

Service Opportunity





IB students are needed to help serve food and refreshments to the participants and guests at the Harmony Leland Elementary School Fall Festival. PSAT/NMSQT on October 14

IB juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on October 14th in order to be considered for the National Merit Scholarships. On this same day, non-IB juniors will be taking the GHSGT diagnostic tests. Provision will be made for IB juniors to take the GHSGT diagnostic tests on a later date.

IB sophomores, and any freshmen who signed up, will also be taking the PSAT on Wednesday.

          The Student Government Association (SGA) is asking for parent volunteers to help during the homecoming dance. Volunteers are needed to work various stations at the dance for one hour shifts at 7, 8, 9, and 10 p.m. that night. Any or all slots are available. Campbell Middle School needs IB juniors and seniors to help with the LEGO Robotics Team and the Science Olympiad Team.

The LEGO team meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00.   The Science Olympiad team meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:00.

Project 2400 Parent Meeting

CHS is participating in PROJECT 2400, which provides free SAT preparation by the Princeton Review to high school Juniors. The SAT course consists of 24 hours of instruction and 3 full-length diagnostic tests.

INTERESTED FAMILIES MUST ATTEND THIS MEETING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM.
The CHS class will meet on Tuesday afternoons and some Saturday mornings.

GHSGT Writing Test

All juniors will be taking the GHSWT on this Wednesday, September 30th. Passing this test is one of the requirements for graduation.
